Local Projects

Many projects and studies have been carried out and executed along the Egyptian coast, Mediterranean and Red Seas, during the period from 1972 up till now. Some examples are shown as following:

  • Studies for protection of El-Maamoura beach, Alexandria 1974.
  • Protection of Burg El-Burullus village with the seawall, 1975.
  • Modification of the western jetty of Damietta outlet and its connection with land by the concrete seawall, 1975
  • Seismic investigation and its implication to coastal activities of Abu Quir bay, 1978.
  • Modification of Abu Quir Sea Wall or Mohamed Ali Sea-Wall, 1980.
  • Protection of Maadia Outlet from siltation, Idku lake, 1980.
  • Modification of Burg El-Burullus seawall, 1980.
  • Protection of El-Gamil regulator outlet from siltation, 1984.
  • Studying the impact of wide opening of the eastern harbor, Alexandria area, on the harbor characteristics and on the mooring of the ships, 1985.
  • Protection of the outlet of western Nobaria drain by two jetties, 1986.
  • Protection of Ras El-Bar beach by three groins and a bazalt wall in between, Damietta promontory, 1987.
  • The movement of beach sand as indicated by fluorescent sand and grain size at southwest Rosetta, 1987.
  • Studying the impact of El-Arish port on its eastern area and the resulted erosion which destroyed the Palm beach, 1988.
  • Studies of El-Bardaweel two outlets and submitting the complete design of the jetties required for protecting the outlet from siltation, 1990.
  • Studying the development of Abu zenima port, Suez Gulf, 1992.
  • Studying the oscillation of El-Dikheila harbor due to wave penetration which affects the Ro-Ro ships (1992/1995).
  • Studies of El-Burullus outlet and design of the equilibrium tidal profile, 1993.
  • Studying, planning and designing an optimum project for creating suitable safety beach for swimmers in front of Marakia Tourist village west of Alexandria (1993).
  • Studying the infringements along the front of Hurghada city due to the human interventions in the coastal zone and suggesting the solutions (1994).
  • Studying and monitoring the impacts of the Rosetta sea walls on the area (1980 to 1998).
  • Impact of constructing a power plant on El Masaid coastal zone near El-Arish, Northern Sinai, 1996.
  • Studying the impact of the construction of the intake of El-Arish power plant on the area and suggesting alternatives, for solving the erosion problems, 1997/1998.
  • Studying the impact of the siltation phenomenon of El-Hamra bay (WEPCO) on the seawater intake at the tip of extended jetty (1997/1998).
  • Studying the siltation problem of Damietta port navigation channel, (1997/1998).
  • Improving nearshore coastal zone conditions along Marakia tourist village beach, 1998.
  • Short period studies along Coral beach Village, south of Hurghada city, Red Sea, 1999.
